Since the beginning of the nineties, I am engaged in the fascinating documentary macrophotography of small animals. The accompanying photo, made in the Weerribben during the shooting of large dragonflies and the Large copper butterfly, shows the equipment that was needed at the time to do this form of photography. Unfortunately, this Copper butterfly is now seriously threatened. Photographing the small creatures in the humus layer such as the Collembola is a special activity that reveals the beauty of these interesting insects. The photographic equipment has undergone a very large development through the application of digital technology and special lenses. That development makes photographing those small living and active objects a lot easier. Emphasis in the object and its photography remains a prerequisite. |
